Midsize SUV Sales Figures In America - August 2013 YTD

Jeep sold more Grand Cherokees in America in August 2013 than in any August since 2003. The Grand Cherokee was America's fifth-best-selling SUV in August, up from seventh spot a year earlier. 

Ford's Explorer was 2339 units back of the JGC in August. Exclude the Police Interceptor Utility sales, and the Explorer was nearly 4000 sales back of the Jeep.

GM Lambda platform sales totalled 23,016 units in August, up 15% year-over-year. Honda, Mazda, Nissan, and Toyota sold 38,918 Pilots, CX-9s, Pathfinders, and Highlanders last month, up 45% compared with August 2012, when the Murano generated much more impact than the old Pathfinder.

For the sixth consecutive months, U.S. sales of the Volkswagen Touareg declined on a year-over-year basis. August 2013's 32% drop was the worst yet.
