| | | KEITH CRAIN Not the way to soar with eagles A major story in Europe last week was the potential alliance between General Motors and PSA Peugeot Citroen. One assumes that the discussions have to do with a tie-up with GM's Opel unit in Europe. With both Opel and PSA struggling, this seems like it would be an unlikely -- and unsuccessful -- alliance. Sure, many companies have joint ventures that involve engines, transmissions and even platform sharing. Sometimes those tie-ups don't end with the greatest results. You might be surprised by the results of a shootout conducted by the Michigan State Police, which has released results of its annual police car test of Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge vehicles. The test measures things such as quarter-mile acceleration, stopping distance, ergonomics, fuel economy and 0 to 60 mph acceleration. The test is performed to help law-enforcement agencies across the country choose police cars or SUVs. This year one vehicle was noticeably absent.
