GOOD CAR BAD CAR |
Canada's 20 best-selling vehicles, representing 8% of available nameplates, accounted for more than half of all new vehicle sales in August 2013. For the first time this year, something other than a pickup truck cracked the top two: Honda's Civic outsold Chrysler Canada's Ram pickup by a 322-unit margin.
The Civic and Ford F-Series, Canada's best-selling vehicle line in August and always, accounted for more than one out of every ten new vehicle sales last month. Four pickup trucks are present on this list of the 30 best-selling vehicles in Canada, all in the top 10. (The fifth-ranked truck, Toyota's Tacoma, ranked 41st overall.) There are ten SUVs and crossovers and 14 cars. That leaves two minivans, and they're the same vans.
The Town & Country ended August as Canada's second-best-selling minivan, 2618 sales back of its Dodge Grand Caravan twin but 205 sales ahead of the third-best-selling minivan, the Toyota Sienna. The 32nd-ranked Sienna leads the T&C by 1219 sales through the first two-thirds of 2013. Compared with the July edition of this list, the Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Sorento have been knocked off. Replacing that trio: Ford's surging Fiesta, the aforementioned Chrysler minivan, and Nissan's smaller Versa.
