360 Panameras were sold in October 2009. 248 Panameras were sold in June 2013, a 60% drop. There are only about 600 Panameras in Porsche's U.S. dealer network inventory, compared with nearly 1100 Audi A8s and more than 1600 Jaguar XJs.
The updated 2014 Panamera will bring about an uptick in volume, but Porsche isn't about to start selling the Panamera in S-Class-like numbers.
The category's top-selling BMW 6-Series is at a serious advantage compared with its similarly-priced sedan rivals: its foundation is as a coupe and convertible.
One could argue that a more fitting comparison would show the Mercedes-Benz S-Class's numbers alongside those of its CL-Class coupe sibling (30 of which were sold last month) and, more importantly, the SL-Class roadster. That would bring the Benz total up to 1535 units.
HybridCars.com believes Tesla sold 1800 copies of its Model S in June; 10,650 in the first half of 2013. Autoblog Green estimates 1633 June sales (9304 year-to-date) for the Tesla. Lincoln sold 906 MKS sedans in June, Cadillac sold 2234 XTS sedans, and Hyundai Equus sales totalled 195.
