Discussing The Background Of B.M.W Series Vehicles

By Carroll Mcintosh

When researching into the history of BMW cars, the longstanding credibility of the brand is to be noted, as it was founded in the early parts of the century, namely in the year 1917. Founded in Munich, Germany, where its headquarters are located, the brand once made airplane engines before car and van leasing for the German army. This was during the first and second world wars. Motorcycles were first produced in 1927.

The logo of the brand is reminiscent of the propeller of a plane while moving. It is known as a roundel type logo in Germany. The signature blue and white coloration stems from the flag of Bavaria. The logo was first seen in public during an automotive commercial in 1929, twelve years after it was first designed and put into use by the company.

Its first airplane engines were of a liquid cooled variety and made in 1918. These were capable of high altitude flights and proved to be extremely popular with pilots and parts engineers for the crafts. Producing engines for Germany's Luftwaffe airforce during World War II further cemented the brand as having extreme loyalty to its country and providing expert technology where it was needed.

A third model aircraft engine was made during the years of World War II, and was tested primarily in the first ever jet fighter for Germany. Other engine models powered smaller planes and emergency vehicles that were needed in the air during the war. The jet fighter model of engine never caught on or become technologically popular with engineers, so it was discontinued.

The company experienced financial trouble starting in 1959, and major shareholders were called in for a meeting to decide if it would be responsible to liquidate assets to return some of the investments made into the brand name. Despite obvious shortcomings, the plan was decided to carry out its manufacture and production of cars.

As such, this company took a gamble in buying an Italian-based small car company. This proved to be the right move for future success, as the small, lightweight cars were easy and cheap to produce, as well as having the benefit of being extremely fuel-efficient. During the American fuel crisis, smaller, more gas-friendly cars needed to be adopted in order to save on gas rations. The Italian made cars were a step into keeping the brand profitable during a time of crisis.

Later on in 1992, the company purchased a stake in an industrial studio located in California, which expanded their operations in the United States and made some manufacturing costs cheaper for factories. After buying and then selling another well-known British brand, this company finally found a niche in its other lines of cars, smaller and more efficient as it once was during the 60s.

In recent times, the brand identity has moved towards luxury German sedan bmw lease, with its luxurious interiors and powerful engine performance capabilities. Modern car concepts and production vehicles have been consistently awarded with high honors among many automotive journalists and various internet bloggers. This has further placed this brand high above its competitors, along with its vehicle's conservative design and powerful presence on the road.
