Just Purchase A Different Product - Bike Cell Phone Mount Critique

By Allison Morris

For vent mounting it is WORTHLESS! The "alligator clips" are 100% plastic.

It holds the phone nice and tight and the clips fit perfectly in my RAV4 vents. For me, this was a great purchase. I use it with my phone as both a GPS and other times I use it to play my music. I am 100% satisfied with this mount. I have a Seido case on the Droid X and it still fits perfect. The USB charging port stays open and the mount is adjustable to many different configurations. However, I wish they would put more engineering into the vent holder. Does not fit well in my vehicle and adjust-ability is not that great. I haven't used the A/C mount so I can't report on that. I've bought cell phone mounts before and they all turned out to be junk.

However, this all changed when I went to do some voice control, and it simply wouldn't take any of my voice input. I quickly figured out why - the mount blocks the speaker/microphone on the back of the phone, and there is no way to avoid this besides using a Bluetooth headset or speakerphone device in the car.

First generation Droid is a different size than my X, so beware. However with this product you don't have to worry about sizes since it is adjustable and well cushioned.

I prefer the vent mount as the Droid X has an issue with heat. This keeps the phone out of the window and allows the AC to blow across it when on. I have always used it with the vent in my car and it holds my phone perfectly well. I can see how some people complain that the mount is not THAT secure when used with the air vents but for my car, it is not so bad.

One side went in while the other side stayed released. I thought I broke it, but it was an easy fix. This mount has been rock solid for me, and I've had zero problems with it...only positive experiences. The vent mount isn't the perfect fit for my vents (Scion xB), but I've managed to get it to work just fine.

It fits the Optimus perfectly, not blocking anything; and it holds it quite securely. I used the mounting disk, sticking it onto the dashboard so I will be legal in California. I move around a lot from different cars, this thing still sticks with no licking of the suction cup. My only problem is that it has a short arm for the cars I drive, so it must be next to the rearview mirror.

I love this mount. I have been looking for a mount that can hold my iPod 120mg and it also holds my 3G Slide great.
